Top Five Tourist Attractions of Tokyo

Tokyo, the capital city of Japan is the largest metropolitan area in the world. It is one the three command centers for the ‘world economy’ along with New York and London. Tokyo is full of natural parks and tourist destinations for visitors. The Ogasawara National Park is one among listed by UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There are a number of museums and amusement parks available in the city to tour and spare time. It is also have diverse areas of sports and athletes. Tokyo hosted 1964 Summer Olympics and bidding to host the 2020 Summer Olympics also. The famous Sumo wrestling is must see in Tokyo. There are many tourist attractions in Tokyo; however I’ve explained the top five locations in this article.

 

1. Asakusa Kannon Temple

The oldest temple of Tokyo is dedicated to the Buddhist goddess of compassion, Kannon. According to myths the goddess statuette was founded by some fishermen in their net while fishing in Sumida River in the year 628, before Tokyo was founded. The temple was being destroyed and repaired several times; however last it was rebuilt in 1972. It is a beautiful temple and most seeable place in Tokyo.

 

2. Ginza

The most famous shopping center of Tokyo is also renowned for one of the most expensive market areas in the world. There are a number of restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, malls and departmental stores present at here; some of the most prominent are Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Channel, Abercrombie & Fitch, Sony, Apple Stores, Mitsukoshi and many more.

 

3. Tokyo National Museum

Established in the year 1872, it was reconstructed several times due to earthquakes. The museum consists more than a million collections from Chinese, Indian and Japanese arts. Situated inside the Ueno Park, the museum provides information in French, German, Spanish and Korean other than English, Japanese and Chinese languages. Visitors can get various collections of books and magazines along with colorful photographs of museum contents. Entrance is totally free of cost.

  4. Ueno Park of Tokyo

Covered with zoos and aquarium in 212 acre of land it is one of the most prominent tourist attractions in Tokyo. Established in the year 1873, it is the first public park of Japan which attracts more than ten million visitors every year. The Ueno Park consists of Tokyo National Museum, National Museum of Western Art, National Museum of Nature and Science, Shitamachi Museum, Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Bunka Kaikan, International Library, The University Art Museum, several monuments, statues and gardens within it.

 

5. Tokyo Dome City

A complete location for family to amuse, entertain, fun and shopping. Formerly known as Big Egg City, it has world’s largest roofed baseball stadium, a spa for relaxation, number of restaurants, hotels, horse racing, excellent shopping opportunities with a big amusement park of Big O Ferris wheel and Thunder Dolphin roller coasters.

The other famous attractions of Tokyo are Disney Resort, Hanayashiki Amusement Park, Sony Building, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, more than hundred Cherry Blossom locations, historical Imperial Palace, many more temples and shrines, gardens and parks to visit.
