After around four years, the mortal remains of 38 Indians killed in Mosul, Iraq reached at Amritsar on Monday afternoon. Union Minister of States for External Affairs VK Singh thanked Iraq government for help in finding, identifying and sending body mortals to India.
Out of 38 Indians, 27 are from Punjab, 4 from Himachal Pradesh, 3 from West Bengal and 4 from Bihar. At a press conference, Punjab Cultural Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh to each family and pension of Rs. 20,000/-. In addition, govt job may be given to one of their family members as per their qualification and eligibility. However, the same declaration was not confirmed by VK Singh. He said he can’t announce right now. This work is not like distributing biscuits. It involves a question of people’s lives.
