The Dalits protest against the recent Supreme Court order on reducing the Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 causes 6 deaths in Madhya Pradesh, one in Uttar Pradesh and one in Rajasthan. In addition, many policemen, security force personnel and public were injured in a single day strike.

On Bharat Bandh by Dalits, most of the states’ transport and public services went off and at several places, it triggered to violence situation. Several buses were vandalized in UP, MP, Delhi, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and many train services were disrupted in many states including Bihar, Punjab, and Odisha.

Due to Bharat Bandh, today's’ 10th and 10+2 Board exam of Punjab shifted to 11th of April.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh appealed all the parties and groups to maintain peace and not to incite any kind of violence. However, it won’t affect the Dalits. Instead, the supporter and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Chief Mayawati said there is no involvement of her party in this violence.
