Mumbai is the capital city of Maharashtra state of India. It is the largest populated city of India and fourth largest populated city in the world. It is also one of the largest urban regions in the world with a population of more than 20 million. Mumbai is the prime center of India’s commerce and entertainment (Bollywood Cinema). The name of the city Mumbai is derived from the Goddess Mumba Devi. Mumbai is built up by seven islands; Bombay, Parel, Mazagaon, Colaba, Worli, Mahin and Old Women’s Island. In this article, I am explaining some of the major tourist attractions of Mumbai.

Elephant Caves:
Situated from 10km far towards east from Mumbai, at Elephanta Island in Mumbai Harbor; it has two types of caves. The largest one is a group of five Hindu caves and the smallest one is a group of two Buddhist caves. Elephant caves are nominated by UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves and its various mythological sculptures are made up of rock-cuts from 5th to 8th century AD.

Juhu Beach:
Mumbai’s famous beach is Juhu beach; which lies on the Juhu suburban area of Mumbai on the bay of Arabian Sea. It is one of the most famous tourist spots of Mumbai, where more than a million take pleasure in everyday with the sea-bath and some of the local fast foods; such as bhelpuri, chats, pani puri, pav bhaji etc. Juhu is also residence of many Bollywood film stars; such as Amitabh Bachhan, Hritik Roshan, Anil Kapoor, Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakroborty and others. It is a place of various temples, churches and mosques with a number of famous hotels and restaurants covered with.
Mumbai is also famous for various amusement parks, such as Essel World, Kamala Nehru Park; temples such as, Mahalaxmi temple, Siddhi Vinayak temple, Swaminarayan temple, Mumbadevi temple etc.; famous beaches, hotels, film cities, historical monuments, etc.
